These past few weeks have been hard for many of us. Learning about the supreme court ruling, continued ICE abductions, and hatred attacks on our communities, brings so much grief.
I was six months pregnant in November 2020, when I felt immediate relief that my daughter was not going to live under the same presidency. 2020 was also a very difficult year filled with grief, fear, and sadness, and the election results gave many of us hope again.
2025, here we are living a nightmare. This is heavy. But history has shown us that oppressed communities are not defined by struggle.
Our cultural traditions are a living testament of resistance. It brings us joy and gratitude. Laughter, music, dance, food, and spirituality are medicine for our soul.
Cry when you need to- let the tears acknowledge the pain. But also find joy in resistance. Every smile, every song, every moment of laughter is a reminder: we are alive, we are unbroken, and we continue to imagine a future beyond what tried silencing us.
In solidarity y con mucho amor,
